After several years living in Thailand, some places continue to surprise us. Railay is one of those places that proves you don't always need to travel to a faraway island to have an unforgettable experience.<\/em><\/p>\n

When you see the first photos of Railay Beach, you might think it's a small island lost in the middle of the Andaman Sea.<\/p>\n

Yet, Railay is well connected to the mainland.<\/p>\n

The most astonishing thing? It\u2019s impossible to get there by road.<\/p>\n

The immense limestone cliffs surrounding the peninsula make any land access impossible. Here, the boat isn't an attraction, it's the only way to arrive.<\/p>\n

And honestly, that's probably what makes Railay so magical.<\/p>\n

An arrival that sets the tone<\/h2>\n

From Ao Nang, it's only about fifteen minutes by traditional longtail boat to reach Railay.<\/p>\n

The price is generally 100 baht per person<\/strong> during the day.<\/p>\n

From Ao Nam Mao, the crossing is even shorter.<\/p>\n

Little by little, the cliffs appear before you.<\/p>\n

The sea is becoming increasingly turquoise.<\/p>\n

The colourful boats float in front of the beaches.<\/p>\n

At that moment, one immediately understands why Railay is among Thailand's most famous landscapes.<\/p>\n

A little corner of paradise\u2026 without cars<\/h2>\n

One of the first things we like about Railay is the silence.<\/p>\n

There are no cars here.<\/p>\n

No scooters whizzing around all the time.<\/p>\n

You can only walk between the different beaches.<\/p>\n

Everything seems calmer.<\/p>\n

Simpler.<\/p>\n

This atmosphere almost gives the impression of being on a small island, even though the mainland is just behind the cliffs.<\/p>\n

The most beautiful beaches of Railay<\/h2>\n

Railay West<\/h3>\n

It is the best-known beach.<\/p>\n

Upon your arrival, you will discover a vast white sandy beach surrounded by impressive cliffs.<\/p>\n

The sunset there is magnificent.<\/p>\n

This is also the best place to simply sit facing the sea with a fruit juice or a coconut.<\/p>\n

Phra Nang Beach<\/h3>\n

For us, it's without hesitation the most beautiful beach in Railay.<\/p>\n

Its turquoise water, its white sand and the immense cliffs that plunge into the sea offer an exceptional setting.<\/p>\n

It is also home to the famous Princess Cave, known for its traditional offerings.<\/p>\n

Even though the beach is busy during the day, it quickly becomes peaceful again in the late afternoon.<\/p>\n

Tonsai Beach<\/h3>\n

Accessible on foot at low tide or by boat, Tonsai has a completely different vibe.<\/p>\n

More bohemian.<\/p>\n

More relaxed.<\/p>\n

It mainly attracts climbers from all over the world and travellers seeking a simpler atmosphere.<\/p>\n

The monkeys are at home<\/h2>\n

In Railay, it's almost impossible not to encounter macaques.<\/p>\n

They are often spotted near the paths, around the viewpoint, or sometimes even near hotels.<\/p>\n

They are fascinating to observe.<\/p>\n

But we must never forget that they remain wild animals.<\/p>\n
